About the event
Join NCCAkron’s Executive/Artistic Director Christy Bolingbroke online this spring for Inside The Dancer’s Studio. This series of lunchtime talks with dance makers from across the country explores creativity, the craft of choreography, and navigating an artistic career.
Helen Simoneau (Mar. 26) is a native of Rimouski, Québec whose work Dance Magazine calls "athletic and smooth." Simoneau has been commissioned by The Juilliard School, Oregon Ballet Theatre, the American Dance Festival, UNC School of the Arts, The Yard, Springboard Danse Montréal, and the Swiss International Coaching Project (SiWiC) in Zurich. She was a resident artist at Baryshnikov Arts Center, NYU/Tisch, Bates Dance Festival, New York Dance Lab, and has received fellowships from The NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts, the Bogliasco Foundation, and twice from the North Carolina Arts Council.
Helen's first visit to NCCAkron was during Dancing Lab: Female Choreographers, during which she choreographed on BODYTRAFFIC (Los Angeles, CA).
